Water Meter Replacement Program

In the spring of 2016 the Hebron Water Department started the Water Meter Replacement Program. Which will eventually replace approximately 1,370 old meters that have been in service for over 20 years and have reached the end of their expected life. The new meters have an expected life of 20 years, which will ensure accurate readings and billing. There is no cost to the homeowner for this service.

We have contracted with Neptune Technology Group to purchase the T10® Water Meter with the E-CODER®) R900i radio frequency meter interface unit. It is a mobile read meter, that means our meter readers do not have to go on your property to read the meter, and there will be no more estimated bills. The meter has advance features that can help the homeowner with billing questions.

The Water Department is concentrating in one section of the town at a time. You will see us going door to door asking if we can change out you meter. Usually it takes less than 30 minutes. All the meters are in the home (basement, crawlspace, laundry room, utility closet). If no one is home we place a door hanger asking you to schedule an appointment.

If you want us to replace your meter before we get to your section please call the town hall at 219-996-4641 so we can schedule a time which is convenient for you. There must be someone 18 years or older at home when we arrive.

All of our employees carry proper identification and drive Town of Hebron trucks.
